How To-zday....Not.

I don't have my normal how to, or an abnormal how to for that matter, prepped for today.  It has been a weird week.  And its only Tuesday.

Don't get me wrong, I've been crafting like crazy, I just don't have the final photos ready for uploading yet.

Jer  & I went in to work together yesterday seeing as the Audi isn't much for snow driving & his usual 7:30am class was cancelled due to the snow delay.  The Things school was cancelled, so they stayed home {& for any just catching up, my baby girl is 15 & my son is 16, so now worries being home alone.  Well, other than there were two teenagers in my house unsupervised & one of them was my son}.

Which reminds me, we aren't one of those cities that shuts down for snow, as might have seemed the case based on yesterday's post.  We are in the Appalachian mountains, snow happens every year.  Nothing like New England or Wisconsin or other northerly states, but still-- we have ski resorts & everything.  The problem is one of seasoning, so to speak.  See the country roads & hollers...well to say they aren't in the best road condition would be an understatement.  Anyway.  For reasons unknown, the city government never seems to have purchased enough road salt.  Like, ever.

Almost every year I've lived here {& its going on 8 years} they've announced they've run out of salt before winter is half over.  So when the salt runs out and the school buses can't run, they call snow days.   Each county system has factored in a certain amount of snow days, & if that number is surpassed, they tack days on at the end of the public school semester.  The college campus, on the other hand,  will only shut down if there isn't enough salt to properly salt the walkways, or if there has been a travel advisory.  So when it snows, we all place bets on whether or not school will be called.  It all depends on the salt, you see.

Anyway.

Our classes went well, though everything feels odd because of the snow.  Don't get me wrong, we aren't complaining because of snow days, because snow days are the best thing ever.  But it has given us an odd sensation of being A) in school longer than we have been & B) being behind schedule even though we aren't.    The only days that have suffered are Fridays-- they were cancelled twice in a row.  But with some serious finagling, we were both able to get mostly caught up with our respective classes last week {I can't remember the last time I went through the Gilded Age so fast}.  We spent part of my office hours comparing notes and assuring each other that we were actually good to go.

We got home a wee bit later than usual.  There was a bit of a mess to clean up at ole Cecilia-- though nothing near as bad as you'd imagine.  The Things ate a lot of eggs.  Go figure.  Anyway.

Then there was the Loremaster thing.

Ah, the crux of the matter.

If you don't play World of Warcraft, you won't know what I mean when I say that Loremaster is an achievement.  Its kinda a big achievement, actually.  I could link you to tons of sites that confirm the awesomeness of it, but I won't burden you with it.

And I wants it my precious.

And I am 3 quests away from getting it.  Unfortunately, they are long, arduous, boring quests.

So, there is that.

I don't have my usual craft post because I played World of Warcraft instead of editing photos.  I got home, threw out egg shells, put on sweat pants & played World of Warcraft until bedtime.  And I'm going to do it again today, & quite possibly for the rest of this week.  Its totally Loremaster guys, so, you know, its totally worth it.  If you spoke fantasy game nerd you'd understand...

Anyway...

Sorry~*

We will be back with our regularly scheduled post next week.

  1. I can't believe how much snow you are getting. It seems to be much more than we're getting this year in the Toronto area.

Makes me laugh when they don't budget enough for snow clearing.

  2. It looks pretty! Occasionally we'll run out of salt, but actually here it's usually the opposite. I swear there are salt lobbyists and since we've had a couple mild winters at the first dusting we get doused in salt. In the city it is actually thick with salt on the sidewalks... overkill!

  5. Well, in the end your local salt budget issue (loremaster status amongst the local citizenry doesn't help?) makes for a good story. I was entertained. And I'm crossing my fingers for you and yours should the road be particularly frosty. Lynaea @ EverydayBloom.com
