How To-zday: Billy Buttons Bouquets~*

The countdown to the end begins!  As of today, I teach this afternoon & tomorrow, then its a week of finals, intense grading, paperwork and all the other accouterments of the academic world.  Then a few committee meetings, a commencement ceremony then...

ah.  Summer.

At least for 2.5 weeks, then I teach a summer class.  But those don't count-- summer classes are awesome~*

This may end up being my last post until the weekend.  It really all depends on how hard I can hold on when the whirlwind kicks up, iffun' you follow me.  We will see.  Just offering fair warning.

To kick off the glimmer of summer at the end of the spring semester tunnel, I'm doing a summer sort of craft.  At least, billy buttons {aka craspedia} always look like summer to me.  Sunshine on a stick~*

You will need yellow yarn (any shade, though I went with a mustardy color), a small pom-pom maker (I use this one, but you could make one yourself out of cardboard if you'd prefer), rafia covered floral wire (I used the same one I used way back in the fall for pumpkins, but the green floral wire would work too) a glue gun & some cool narrow vases (I used old bottles).

The rest is easy!

And there you go!  Quick, easy & summer friendly~*
I apologize for the graininess of the last photos, I 'spose that's what I get for not having Thing 3 take them....sigh.  Anyway.  You get the idea.  Right now, they are decorating the bathroom window--

but once spring is done springing & summer sets in, they will become part of a new centerpiece for the dining table.  Or maybe the mantel.  Or both-- I can always make more!

Have a sunshine-y day!

  3. Pretty, playful...fun little pops of color. Something about them makes me nostalgic...maybe I'm thinking of Horton and his little clover flower. Best of luck with your last hurrah at work/school! Lynaea @ EveryDayBloom.com

  4. Wow those are so cute! Whenever I make pom poms, I use a fork instead of one of those thingies. I'm sure those things make them much better, but I'm a cheapo! I'll have to make me some of these. I'll let you know how they turn out!
