This is such a great way to kick off my Holiday Extravaganza Week...which is what I'm calling this week. Cos I play by my own rules, yo.
On with the holiday cheer!
The rules are explained thusly: I am supposed to answer the questions set by Jamie, then ask five bloggers five of my own questions about their traditions & so forth & so on.
*licks kringla crumbs from fingers*
We have our families over Christmas Eve, so we dress up then-- but on Christmas Day we are strictly pj's and lounge wear!
If I could travel anywhere for Christmas I'd still stay at home. I love our house at Christmas time~*
Without further ado, here we go!
1. What is your favorite holiday dish?
We don't do a fancy Christmas dinner, we do everything Christmas Eve. We host a big dinner for our families-- my husband and Thing 1 cook, Thing 2 helps out & Thing 3 helps decorate and whatnot. Anyway. We have a different theme every year, so there aren't any every year dishes. Cookies on the other hand, are a must. Ever have the Norwegian cookie kringla?
You must. Its the best cookie ever. Fan-tab-u-lous with coffee in the morning.
Funny story. I wrote this answer then Thing 3 and I went and made kringla. Literally. I didn't even finish writing the post. See?
BTW if you are gluten intolerant or have a wheat allergy like me, 1/3 c. almond flour, 1/3 c. rice flour, 1/4 c. potato starch, 2 tbsp. tapioca flour & 1/2 tsp. xanthan gum for each cup of flour called for in the recipe works great.
2. Do you dress up for the holidays or wear PJ's, etc.?

3. What is your favorite holiday song?
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas. Judy's version from Meet Me in St. Louis. So beautiful {and I totally covet her hair, makeup & dress in this scene too}.

4. What is your favorite holiday movie?
The Year Without a Santa Claus has been my favorite since I was a wee kiddo! Seriously, what beats this??

ReplyDeleteYay! This was fun to read and surprising because my early childhood tradition is just like yours (sans cookies I've never heard of but would have no trouble stealing right out of your mouth!). My family always did christmas eve as the main thing and then pj's the next morning. AND we always watched Meet Me in St. Louis! LOVE IT. The trolley song is my very fav.
ReplyDeleteSorry it took so long to come see this. I'm already on holiday with my sis and it makes keeping up quite tough when I could be eating and napping. ;-)
