Happy 4th of July!

A Section of the Declaration of Independence, as originally written by Thomas Jefferson
A transcript to the Declaration of Independence as written by Thomas Jefferson.  In the original, Jefferson railed against slavery, saying, the king  "has waged cruel war against human nature itself, violating it's most sacred rights of life & liberty in the persons of a distant people who never offended him, captivating & carrying them into slavery in another hemisphere...."  Georgia and South Carolina refused to sign it with that paragraph, so it was removed, much to Jefferson's chagrin.
And here is the copy approved by the Congress, that served as the foundation of our government and the precursor to the Constitution.

Now get out there & watch some fireworks!

PS I'm going to take a few days off of blogging to enjoy the family & whatnot.  I'll be back with the new Five Among Friends post sometime next week!
