A Versatile Award ~*

It must be award season {I can just about hear the fanfare, though the red carpet has yet to arrive}

JanMLoves nominated me for a Versatile Blogger Award!  She is much too sweet~*  I brought up JanMLoves' wonderful blog in my Liebster post-- I am a huge fan, so this is a real treat~*
The rules are.....
1  Thank the blogger who has nominated you in your post.
2. Nominate 5 bloggers who are "new" to blogging.
3. Let them know you have nominated them.
4. Share 5 random facts about yourself.
5. Copy & paste the versatile blogger picture to your post!

My Five Nominees
Since starting my little corner of the interwebs, I've noticed that the hardest part about blogging is connecting with others.  That said, I've been lucky to connect with some extremely talented women purely by accident, but in general terms...you get my drift-- writing the posts is relatively easy, and photography is fun {particularly when you happen to have a talented daughter}, but finding your audience is hard.  So for my 5 nominees I give you five blogs that are new to me, & could use a little more attention. Please check 'em out, & give 'em a follow!

Salt & Wine
Sure Why Not?
Be Lovely
My Family, My Life

And here are the 5 random facts about me:

1. I love coffee-- bold, dark & with nothing but coffee flavor in it.

oh coffee, let's be friends forever. 8x10 Inspiring Photographic Print.
 Etsy Print

2. I play World of Warcraft to unwind...which I have mentioned before, but you may not be aware how deep the rabbithole goes.  I have dozens of characters all told, but 10 on my favorite realm-- 4 level 85s {highest level atm...not much cache in the blogging community, I understand, but Thing 2 & friends think I'm badass}...

Mariyah: Troll Hunter
Cyriacus: Blood Elf Mage
Ianto: Human Paladin
Tenskawatawa: Blood Elf Paladin
& I am waiting with bated breath for this to release~*

3.  As further evidence of my nerd credentials, I am also a sci-fi nut.  Speaking strictly of televsion {cos if I talked about movies we'd be here all night}, I love serious sci-fi like Dr. Who, Torchwood, & the corny side of science like the original Star Trek {I had a childhood crush on Capt. Kirk} and MST3K.
For the serious sci-fi aficionado, here's a bit of my favorite modern Dr. Who episode:

For those of you poor people who are unaware of the joys of MST3K, here is my favorite episode on what is quite possibly the worst movie ever ever ever made.  Ever.  Ever.  Anyway, once you get the idea, you can throw your own MST3K themed party, all you need is lots of liquor & a bad movie {I recommend starting with any of Steven Seagal's early films...very easy to make fun of}

4.   I'm utterly insane for middle eastern/Mediterranean food.  The happiest day in my life is when an Iraqi family moved to our neck of the woods and opened a restaurant {shout out to Babylon~*}

*hugs*

Baba Ganoush
Turkish Coffee...sigh

Sambousa...yummmm

5.  I study civil disobedience in American History {yeah, I'm a rabble-rouser}.  I'm actually kinda good at what I do, & have been lucky enough to be brought out to other campuses {particularly in NYC} to talk about my thesis, civil disobedience in general & how to teach history.  No worries, I won't bore you with the details LOL

On our last trip to NY-- got to talk at CUNY which was most awesome

That's it for me!  Now I'm off to make some rice pudding {the handsome man pictured above cooked piri-piri chicken with rice & rice pudding makes for a yummy Sunday breakfast~*}  Hugs to all of you!

  2. Congrats on the award! I'm not overly keen on WOW but that's purely because I had an ex who let it take over his life (seriously, he refused to go to a New Year Party because he was playing). LOVE the sound of your study in civil disobedience, I love a fellow rebel. : ) Rx

    1. Until a few years ago, the only computer games I had ever played were puzzle games like Myst. My son got WOW as a present, he insisted I play too, & that is how I got started. I'm hooked-- though I've never turned down a party for it lol.

      And yay for the dissidents!

  3. I love Middle Eastern food and civil disobedience too! Although us Canadians are pretty quiet. ;) I also nominated you for a different type of Versatile Blogger Award, just because I love your blog. No pressure to respond though. http://womaninreallife.blogspot.ca/2012/04/awards-season.html

    1. You are too sweet! Thanks, & thanks for your blog! Oh, & historically, you Canadians kicked our American butts a few times, so don't underestimate your propensity for disobeying LOL
